The following quote, "Since 1998, police chiefs
have been emboldened to take a much more aggressive stance to deny applicants,"
said Krick. "Some police chiefs do use it properly. Probably more abuse
it than use it properly." was _not_ said by me. Attribution should
go to David Rostcheck. I believe that this is a true statement.
I _do_ believe that we have a serious problem in the State of Massachusetts
regarding discretionary licensing. Some police chefs _do_ discriminate
with this law, and have been slapped down in court for failing to issue
firearms licenses. But, fortunately, I do not believe that this applies
to the majority of Police Chiefs.
It is also worth noting that 98% of Massachusetts gun owners do _not_
support Chapter 180, despite the words of state Sen. Cheryl Jacques (D-Needham).
The question asked was, "Would you support a law that prevents firearm
use by criminals, felons, and the mentally unstable?"
