Pink Pistols Fight for Gun Rights
Pink Pistols, a gay and lesbian gun-rights group, was formed in Massachusetts to speak out against the state's discretionary licensing legislation, Free Market Net reported June 21.
Under discretionary licensing, local police decide who canget a gun permit. The Pink Pistols argues that restricting the right to bear arms leaves persecuted minorities at the mercy of bigots and intolerant government officials.
"A police chief can deny a license to a legally qualified person based on their gender, their housing, their sexual orientation, absolutely anything they want," said Pink Pistols organizer David Rostcheck.
Pink Pistols opposses placing restrictions on the purchase and ownership of firearms. The organization called the current process "racist, classist, sexist, homophobic."
