This represents an opportunity for anyone in the area of the chapter that wishes to reactivate it!
We would like nothing more than to provide the valuable resource of a local Pink Pistols chapter near you, but we need your help. All of our chapters are autonomous, but have the option of receiving a website from the National or simply a link to their own outside site. They may also have forwarding email addresses if they wish. As we expand our resources, we will extend more of these capabilities to the chapters so they can be ever more effective for the membership.
All it takes to start a chapter is a member or two, and the willingness to do so. The Pink Pistols has a "field of dreams" attitude towards chapter building -- if you build it, they will come. Establish your chapter, make it known, provide the resources your members will need to learn to defend themselves and to meet socially, and they will come. This tried-and-true formula has worked well for all of our chapters in every state.
So why was this one inactive when I tried to contact it, you ask? Well, things happen. The economy shifts, jobs vanish overnight, and suddenly those running a chapter find themselves having to move or drastically alter their lives. Sometimes there is no one they can hand the chapter to that can run it for them. Under those circumstances, a chapter may "go to sleep" for a time until someone comes along willing to awaken it again. This is likely what happened to the chapter you tried to contact.
But if you are interested, you can fix it. You have an opportunity to be the one to wake it up again, to give it life. It can be a lot of fun, and it's a worthwhile endeavour. If you are interested, send an email to Gwen Patton, National Media Spokesperson.
We hope you will join us, and help grow the organization with us!
